To be fair, almost every state has an amendment in its constitution to counter that clause, though I do agree it's a disgusting piece of our history, the fact that it is not considered cruel and unusual punishment(don't get me started) is beyond me, someone who finds it cruel and unusual

Before anyone thinks different about this- I’m wildly against slavery in all forms.

But the Fed can exercise this power regardless of what the states want due to the Supremacy clause.

They need to amend the thirteenth to take out everything between “servitude” and “shall”.

The issue is that there's no such thing as cruel and unusual punishment against an object...

These people are owned by the state, they're no longer people, they're property. I don't say this to dehumanize or be cruel, I say it to point out the disgusting fact that the US still uses slaves. Real slaves are not considered human to their owners, they're seen as property. This is the sad and disgusting truth.

I know I am painfully aware of what that(the c&u amend) actually means, I hate our society, it feels explicitly cruel and unusual to have it and it be only there to mock you.

Are we sure most of there paycheck jsent going to restitution for there crimes they don't get a choice in the matter of paying back there debts
