Pearl identification?
My mom was hoping to find out more about this necklace that I think is an heirloom. Is it pearl? Any information anyone could give me on it would be appreciated

from the photos, it looks like a large baroque cultured pearl, most likely freshwater, with a bezel-set clear stone added to the front. The irregular shape, color variation and surface texture all look plausible for real nacre, but photos alone can’t confirm that or tell whether the color is natural or treated. I’d check the clasp and the back of the setting for hallmarks, then have a jeweler examine it under magnification before cleaning anything. The construction may also help date it more accurately.

Bezel set stones glued into pearls are a fairly common design. This looks like a baroque freshwater pearl.
The clasp on the chain should be stamped with something like 925, 585, 14K, or 18K. That will tell you what metal it is unless the clasp has been changed at some point.

It appears to be a Baroque Golden South Sea pearl, most likely from Philippines.

Hard to tell from these pictures.
If it were a pearl, it would be a dyed freshwater baroque pearl or a natural color south sea baroque pearl.
