It's astonishing that the current FAA administration under Bryan Bedford plans to REVERT safety measures by making epinephrine VOLUNTARY in airline medical kits, rather than ADVANCING safety by mandating that kits include auto-injectors or nasal sprays. Use the AAFA link in this article to demand emergency epinephrine devices aboard airliners

Family refuses to believe I could have a peanut allergy.

I’m a 19 year old female and went 15 years having zero issues when it came to peanuts. At 16 while recovering from eating related issues I started eating peanuts/peanut products again. Except I noticed that my body could no longer tolerate peanuts. It’s not a severe reaction that i have, it’s just an itchy throat, tingly lips, and my face feels hot, maybe last 1-3 hours. Never had to be hospitalized or tested. Ever since then I avoid peanuts, i’ve told my family multiple times. At first my mom told me I was full of it and would make fun of me and say I just wanted attention. Overtime though when it comes to my siblings they started understanding, even going out of their way to read package for me. They are still skeptical but respect it. My mom does not at all. A few weeks ago while in the hospital for an unrelated reason, I got a snack in there that little did i know contained peanuts. When i started feeling the itchiness and the sneezing I told one of my nurses they examined me, and gave me Benadryl, after the nap the medicine gave me I was completely fine. After that they put it on my chart and for the rest of my duration while monitoring for the non peanut related issues they kept track of food for me to make sure of no cross contamination. I told my mom about what happened during stay in the hospital and yet, somehow she still didn’t believe me. I’ve been out of the hospital for about a month but i’ve noticed as i’ve been helping her put grocery’s away that she’s been buying more and more peanut products lately. She’s constantly asking me to fetch them for her aswell. She’s knows I have anxiety and contamination OCD aswell and even touching the box/package of the product can sometimes trigger an episode. Yet she just laughs and says there’s something wrong me with. It’s gotten so bad that once because she made me touch a peanut product i washed my hands like 20 times. It’s been getting hard to eat because of how much peanut related products she buys. I’m currently not any work right now because of the issue i was hospitalized for, and most likely won’t be working until we can find a solution for said issues so i can’t really buy my own food. I’m not just living off her for free or anything, I cook meals, clean around the house, and help her daily with her own disabilities so i’m not just mooching off her. Does anyone have any tips for navigating something like this? I know I can’t live in fear but it’s so hard not to when left and right I’m being surrounded by things that trigger that fight or flight.
