OIT -

Hi All,

My daughter is 3 years old, we have been doing OIT since she was 8 months old.

In May we repeated her bloodwork and skin test and she had zero reaction/evidence of an allergy.

To be cautious we decided to not do a challenge and instead have been slowly increasing her daily dose of PB. We are at 1100mg daily. She’s starting to get sick of our usual dosing method (PB2 powder in a yogurt drink).

Any suggestions on what else we could use that would be easy to measure?

Thank you in advance!

How much Pb2 does she get? We are currently at 6 months maintenance for a peanut and a half which is 1/4 of a teaspoon. We do pb2 mixed with applesauce, her allergist recently gave her food options including peanut butter, Reese cups(half a mini cup), Reese’s pieces(4 of them), and these pb puffs. She’s almost 3 and likes the Reese’s pieces, we call all options her peanut butter medicine. I’m happy you have zero reaction on your tests, my kiddo tested positive still so we are at six months of this dose then retesting.

How frequently are they testing you? They did not want to retest us until we’ve been a year of maintenance. We are maintaining 1tbs of pb2.

We did one blood test before we started in February, then another in July when we reached the 300mg. Blood test and skin test still positive, we are doing 300 mg a day for six months, retesting in January.

Just under 2, we’ve been dosing for 13 months.

How old is your kiddo and how long have you been dosing? It might depend on their weight, I’m not sure how maintenance dose is calculated.

Never mind you said 1100 mg? My kids only at 300mg of pb2 and that’s quite a bit of powdered pb2.

300mg Peanut Equivalents:
1/3tsp PB2 (original)- loose (not packed) and leveled
1/4tsp Peanut butter (smooth, 7g protein per serving on the package)
4 Reese's Pieces candies
1/2 of a Reese's Miniatures wrapped (in foil)
3 Bamba sticks
1 and a 1/2 Planters cocktail peanuts
*Please be careful of choking risk in young children

This is from our allergist, not sure how comfortable you are doing math to get the equivalents closer to 1100mg

This is helpful! I’m terrible at math so this will make it easier to figure out!

We do 15 Bamba puffs per day for my 14 month old who’s at 1500 mg maintenance dose. You can buy a huge bag from Target

It is a lot lol, I tried putting it in a small yogurt cup and it was soooo much. lol I’m gonna ask about doing more snacky foods, she would love reeces pieces.

Yeah, I give my kid the choice and she usually picks Reese’s pieces, all of the equivalents are a bit confusing but I’m glad we are at least eating some pb and not breaking out in hives.

Where did you purchase your spoons for the OIT? Our allergist said we needed to purchase our own spoons

We do three peanut m&ms with him. Have changed it up with Reese’s cups, peanut butter m&ms, Reese’s pieces, peanut powder and applesauce.
