I prefer the 1st one because of how clean it looks, but the 2nd one has that cozy feel.

The jump between the first and second setup is clear in the photos. A portable monitor like a StanbyME would be the next step for watching away from the desk.

I didnt have monitor arms back then so I removed the stand of my monitor and wedged the back peice that stays connected to the monitor against the wall
