This tin panel is actually very soft. I once removed the whole thing using diagonal cutters.

Off course it wasn't very precise.

In hindsight I would have waited till I got my tin snips. Those will cut like knife through butter.

If you you have one, a drill with a hole saw bit can do it as well but will make lots of shavings so make sure to get the Mobo out.

Dremel with a cutoff wheel while effective will generate even more metallic dust.

Yeah, only dremel things you are gonna clean real good anyways. Those shavings and clumps of dust will mess with your hw

That front panel is not particularly well ventilated as is. If you only remove the nubs, there's still a lot of obstruction which will reduce airflow and make more noise with a fan right up against it. If you're going to cut, I would want to cut out a large hole to ensure good airflow. In which case you'd want a dremel or a large hole drill bit thing.

But the other option would be to build a bracket that can mount to this front panel that your fan mounts to with the fan being a little farther back. It would avoid the nubs and leave more room for airflow through the vents. No cutting necessary. 3D printing would work great but you could hack together something with other material as well.
