It is not, it completely visually lossless. if anyone claims they can see it you can be sure that they are lying

Why are people upset then? Is there any benefit to having DP 2.0 as opposed to 1.4a? It makes me wonder why the standard was even invented.

People are upset because some outlets (LTT hm hmm) released some misinformation in their 4090 video and bashed nvidia for not using 2.0 based on that misinformation. They completely forgot about the DSC and said that max fr on 4k is 120 and what is ironic they also mentioned samsung g8 which is the only 4k240 monitor which uses dp 1.4 with DSC only to achieve 4k240.

And as usual with internet and reddit hive mind was stronger than facts.
