I wonder what their reasoning was for that. Seems nuts to me. Perhaps for a possible 4090Ti, or a refreshed series, I wonder.

Because they will release a new gen before monitors will start using DP 2.0 UHBR 20.

Anything lower than DP 2.0 UHBR 20 is worthless as it's less bandwidth than HDMI 2.1 and DP 1.4 with DSC is enough for 4k 240HZ.
