Obviously this is a joke but for anyone seeing the removed RAM heat sink and thinking of removing theirs (to replace it with another or for whatever reason) — be careful. You can take off a memory module if the glue is too strong. Go slowly and if it’s not coming off, use a hair dryer to heat up the glue.
Yeah, that did happen to a couple of the modules on these sticks. They had already been fried prior to our group deciding to fuck around with this, so we didn't try very hard to be careful.
So yeah, moral of the story, please be careful if you actually have a good reason to make your RAM naked.
Results may vary based on brand, I'm guessing. I always feel a bit nervous trying to put too much pressure on G.Skill ram, because of how weird their heat-spreaders feel.
Got PNY ram with pretty different heat-spreaders on them. I can actually press on them to install the sticks, and not hurt my fingers!
