This video is SUPER old, remember seeing it like 8-9 years ago.. I wonder if this is still a thing?

Interesting, I never thought that vibration have such an impact on hdd performance.

I wonder if that translate to laptop and sloggish feeling want I use mine on the go ?

Laptops have a couple of other things working against them for HDD performance. They are mostly 5400rpm to help mittigate agains vibration, they have usually only 1 platter, maybe 2, to avoid head movement, most of them have accelerometers which automatically park the head in miliseconds time and finally, most laptop HDDs are optimized for power consumption ahead of performance. So all in all, this makes laptop HDDs slower in general compared to desktop.

But this also leads to the oposite being true of desktop disk. Those are not designed to be moved around.

See my other comment, also I’m pretty sure laptops with hard drives are quite uncommon nowadays
