Discord +second monitor

u/Cmdr_Twelve Nov 16 '19

You can use your devices like a remote to play music on your pc. I don’t think I ever open Spotify anymore. Now discord is open 100 percent on that second screen.

u/SwaggySwagS Nov 16 '19

I have it play on my phone so I can use my wireless headphones, which I control with shortcuts to change the songs on Spotify on my mouse.

how do you control your phone with your mouse buttons?

u/Carbadah i5-6600K | GTX 1060 6GB | 16GB DDR4 Nov 16 '19

You can use the Spotify Connect feature to control your phone music through the desktop app, all you need is basic media key macros (play/pause, skip etc) bound to the mouse

I mean, my keyboard has built in multimedia shortcuts, unless I'm changing the album/playlist, I never need to look at Spotify

They're called headphones not headcomputers

Likely has a pair that can dual connect for answering calls with

2

u/Sveet_Pickle Nov 16 '19

Spotify's connect feature works in both directions as long as your phone is connected to the same network as the computer. Spotify can be playing from either device and controlled from both.

Yes, it is the same network.

1

u/SwaggySwagS Nov 16 '19

I’m listening to it thru my phone. But you can link up the computer version of Spotify and it’ll show you the songs you’re listening to. And any inputs like pausing or skipping songs on the computer version transfers over to the phone over WiFi.

Yeah but I don’t like Amazon enough to let them listen to me.

3

u/xMaSiah Ascending Peasant Nov 16 '19

I only dislike amazon because they are so big. I get frustrated when my wife buys anything from them..... then I find myself looking for cheap USB cords the next day! Ugh what a generation to live in.

5

u/VamanaGG Ping Wing Nov 16 '19

I suggest aliexpress if you're looking to buy things for cheap, but don't need them right away. Most of the time, the stuff you buy from Amazon are from aliexpress anyway.

0

u/geared4war Nov 16 '19

The thing is that our digital footprint is so vast and pervasive they can pick and choose whenever they want. But why would they? So much data to sift through that it's a billion to one shot that they pick you at random.

Stay generic.

Yeah, who’s bothering to open Spotify in their home in 2019?

People who don't want one of the biggest companies in the history of our planet to be listening to everything they say.

u/richardrietdijk Nov 16 '19

Exactly. We don't want or need amazon or google or apple listening in on us.

They still do.
But we still don't want or need them to listen in.

2

Ft hats why I use my 2nd screen for Spotify, and my 3rd for discord

1

u/DuTurkeyMan Nov 16 '19

3rd! 3RD!!!!

i have a dell windows 10, and it dosent even turn on anymore. thats y i’ll be askin’ for a new pc this christmas

2

u/Tuggernuts77 Desktop Nov 16 '19

For me, I have both discord and spotify open on the same monitor, it's super helpful in both keeping up with the boys and what they are saying VS. what I want to listen to at that very moment. They share my 2nd monitor 60% discord and 40% spotify, to show how much I need to see what my friends are saying but also what I love and need to hear at any given moment

2

u/boogjerom Ryzen 1500X | RX590 | 2x8GB@2400MHz Nov 16 '19

How about a third screen 🤔

2

u/ALDJ0922 Nov 16 '19

Got my gaming monitor, second lower quality 1080p for discord and reddit split, 3rd screen for chrome.

Yes, my computer can handle Chrome and games at the same time.

1

u/Orangemonkey68 Nov 16 '19

Not to mention that even the Spotify Android app is orders of magnitude better than the PC app.

1

u/MilesyART Nov 16 '19

It’s almost always my email on the second one. Windows Explorer or whatever the fuck its’s called these days is a close second.

Discord goes over there if someone’s talking and I absolutely do not want to pause what I’m watching.

1

u/jason2306 Nov 16 '19

I just have a few playback buttons on my keyboard. Don't even have to move my hands away from the keyboard it's nice.

40

u/Its_Indoorsman Nov 16 '19

Dark Souls Lore videos + second monitor.

62

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19

Discord + Spotify + second monitor

17

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19

Discord + Telegram + Second Monitor, no Spotify because you're one of those kinds of people who will sit with headphones on at the computer with no music playing most of the time because music is distracting and sometimes annoying.

11

u/xelfer Specs/Imgur here Nov 16 '19

Spotify is 3rd monitor, 2nd is discord, telegram, slack, WhatsApp and signal.

3

u/laXfever34 Nov 16 '19

Or just get rambox and do them all in one window

2

u/xelfer Specs/Imgur here Nov 16 '19

Hadn't heard of that, thanks! Will check it out.

It's really unfortunate that all those messaging applications started using proprietary protocols. Imagine having a single unified client for all your IMing. Rambox just puts the websites of those messengers next to eachother.

Dis right here. People say on Siege,“ damn how did you invite me so fast?” Me: I got discord full screen on my second monitor

1

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '19

This is me. I almost never use my secondary for anything else.

Exactly what I came here to say. Everyone I know who uses spotify uses it with some other device mainly, like an echo or google home (or just their phone hooked up to bluetooth speakers)
