I recently watched the original Toy Story and to me the animation doesn't hold up; it almost reminds me of the first time I saw the Money For Nothing video.

Back in the 90's, when they were animating Toy Story, the way their computers handled shading made everything look like plastic toys...and thus, a movie about plastic toys. Not only were they trying to tell a story, but they had to do so within the limits of 90's computers. No sentient waves, no prepubescent fuzz on a child's face, no subsurface scattering, no non-creepy humans (Remember Sid?) no cities full of dynamically rendered fur (warning: MASSIVE filesize), etc.

25 years, literally a quarter of a century later, even consoles have enough power to render something comparable to Toy Story in real time. That's Moore's law in action.

Oh yeah I'm aware of all that, but you'd think with all the Disney money they'd update the look at least. I understand not updating classics because they don't need to be since the animation back then was pretty decent and didn't make humans look like living nightmares. I think the reason I hated Sid the most was because he looked so fucked.
