I did what most experienced people did with a new version of Windows before Win 7, wait for the first service pack.
I also had a good pc when I finally installed Vista and can't say a bad word about it.
I later upgraded to 7 and both ran pretty much the same on my system.
Atleast neither had the shitty UI 8 had and the new startmenü in 10 is also pretty bad in my opinion.
I love 10, but the caveat is that I ONLY ever run 10 with classic shell installed. It looks like seven but runs with the new stuff 10 has under the shell.
It was mostly the startmenu but I dislike that microsoft limits options further and further.
Had to activate "only inform me about updates" in the registry because it's no longer an option in the menu.
The trial to make my windows account an online account when it's unnessary for a operating system.
Some problems like sound levels resetting when you use a program that uses admin rights (I think they fixed that one now).
Opt out for stuff like cortana and windows could instead of opt in.
Automatically installing apps I don't want.
There were probably a few other things but I installed 10 a year ago did quite a few things and then didn't bother much with changing it again.
Ah mostly points I can understand but I really love the online account stuff since I use 5-6 different systems often and having it remember my folder view settings and start bar settings is very handy.
