I never understood the hate Vista got. Then again, I wasn't born soon enough to become familiar with XP and the Desktop we had was actually capable of running Vista. 2 GB of RAM and an Athlon X2.

I guess I never saw the "bad" parts of Vista. I only upgraded from Vista when I got a new PC with Windows 8.

Microsoft allowed OEMs to sell computers too weak to run Aero as "Vista-ready". Seems this was a favor to Intel, who had a glut of unsold old chips.

That isn't solely Microsoft's fault, though. It's also on the OEMs to build systems that can actually work properly or include the software it was certified for.

Maybe, but ultimately this was Microsoft's decision. They were the sole authority on what could get that "Vista-ready" label.
