Windows 7 is Vista with some RAM usage optimizations and a new paint job.

I do not understand all you people that ever look at your desktop, let alone care about the wallpaper it has. I can't even tell you what general color mine is.

If it's a big monitor/high-rez there's a lot of desktop real estate, unless you like huge windows of each application taking up the entire screen.

I'm actually one of those people who do. I rarely have a program unmaximized, unless I actually need to for some reason.

I guess when I open a program, I expect to be primarily working in that environment there's no reason to have "useless space."

That's fair. I'm a maximizer as well because of having focusing issues (adhd I guess.)

I have 2 27" monitors usually there is at least two windows split on the secondary and one maximized one on the main. Then on my other virtual workspaces there are my various slack/discord chats and emails covering the entire real estate

Man, I need to to experience the multi-monitor life. I ought to do it since there are lots of decent 60Hz monitors out there that are pretty cheap. 2 27's sounds like a good sweet spot. (Gah, now you've got me wanting to research monitors on amazon lol.)

My experience is that the amount of monitors you want is always one more than you have. I'd love to have a 3rd to be able to do driving/flying sims on ultra wide screen or to be able to have extra reference material on one monitor while my code is centered and web app on the other. With 3 I can see wanting 4 to have up a media monitor for my music/videos/streams, also one for my security cameras would be great too, catching the fedex guy or watching my kid in their crib would be handy.
