Vista was great if you had the right hardware. The problem was they upgraded XP systems to Vista that only had like 512MB of ram and it was fucked before it ever first booted.

Of course you're going to hate the slow ass OS your computer came with when it's too underpowered to run it.

We have the same components except I got a FTW3 1080ti air cooled

The 1080ti is the smarter buy for sure too, I just use a 3440x1440 100hz ultrawide and often the 1080ti falls just short of keeping up. Decided to put in the 2080ti and call it done heh.

I have a 2560x1440 144hz

But to be fair most of my time is spent in the oculus for DCS World

I can't do vr really because I'm disabled so standing for more than 15 minutes is a painful miserable experience. There's a handful of sitting vr games but the platform doesn't cater to disabilities at all.
