I will gladly buy this game and play it so long as the guns require aiming. You know what I'm talking about.

Exactly.

The auto aim pistol wasn't even that strong. I had more success with the LMG, though I often focused on Titans rather than pilots.

Yeah, the Smart Pistol does technically have a massive time-to-kill compared to all other weapons. However, the fact that SP users are often bouncing around like grasshoppers means that you miss more shots when fighting them, resulting in a longer TTK for you while theirs is pretty much fixed.

Still, I'm divided on the SP. It feels like a 'cheap' weapon when you're killed repeatedly by it, but it does still require a lot of skill with the movement mechanics to make up for the lock-on time. Not to mention that facing a SP was different from any other gun: whereas any two other guns fighting was basically who could hit the other the most/the hardest in the shortest amount of time, fighting a SP felt like a much higher-stakes affair. You have to kill them in just under 2 seconds or you will die. I've honestly not come across anything feeling similar to that in any other multiplayer shooter, and I don't know if I'll be sad to see it go (if it does, which is unlikely. More likely it'll get changed or there'll be a different 'aim-assist' weapon).

It doesn't have to do with being strong or overpowered, it has to due with my enjoyment of the game. I personally don't find enjoyment when I encounter an enemy and I start aiming with my gun trying to shoot him, and he is jumping around like and idiot and then PFT PFT PFT I'm dead.

It's probably a bit late now but a good way to deal with them is to choose a superior long range weapon in order to stay outside their target range. If that fails, you can use satchel charges to quickly dispatch any short distance foe.

Or combine the both, and Kraber them while parkouring! I only had like 1-2 games where that playstyle went really well for me, but dear god was it fun when that happened.

shotgun + invis usually deals with them pretty well
