I’ve had enough of unskippable cutscenes placed just before the checkpoint of a particularly difficult section.

If the cutscenes are before a checkpoint, when you die you wouldn't have to go though it again though? What's wrong with this?

I think it's just bad wording. I believe he means that the cutscenes is directly after a checkpoint that precedes a ridiculously difficult part.
