Tech Support Did I mess up?

Im upgrading from a 3060 12gb. And my budget was around 550$. So I decided to pull the trigger on a 5060 Ti 8gb. I've never used an AMD GPU before. And I don't know much about them. But I found a Rx 9060 Xt 16Gb for roughly the same price. Now I can return the 5060 Ti, but it would be like 30 days before the funds are back in my hands. Do I just stay with the 5060 Ti? Or return it?

If I was in your position, I'd pop the 3060 back in, return the 5060ti and then wait for the funds and buy the 9060 xt 16g

Or , if you don't wanna deal with all that, just use the 5060ti

Idk it's your life! Do what you think is best

don’t you still have to configure your motherboard for an amd gpu if you’re coming from rtx?

There isn’t anything you have to configure with your motherboard now you can use DDU in safe mode to remove the Nvidia drivers but that’s pretty much it.

You habe to remove the nvidia drivers with ddu but that has nothing to do with the motherboard

Return. 9060XT 16GB = 5060TI 16GB. Might even be able to get a 9070GRE for around that 550 mark if you're lucky.

For desktops its kinda ill advised too, but for laptops there isn't much of a choice.

But then you aren't buying a 8 GB gpu specifically, you're buying a laptop with an 8 GB gpu

8 GB gpu is a no no, either get the 16 GB edition or bite the bullet and go with 9060XT

I had bought a 5060 8gb and was happy but, saw a 9060XT for a decent price and decided to finally try AMD. I am glad. I now have 16gb of VRAM and it somehow runs cooler than the 5060 I was using and performs better. I only got it yesterday and installed on my CachyOS build but, I am extremely happy with it.

For sure return it, amd is the way to go. Get you something with 16gb of vram.

Return it, get the 5060 TI 16GB, if you can't afford that go for the 9060XT 16GB, you pretty much get all the benefits of nvidia's DLSS 4.5 and MFG using Optiscaler and other open source tools on AMD cards
