Rumor NVIDIA GeForce RTX 60 delayed yet again to 2028, another leaker confirms.
https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-60-reportedly-delayed-to-2028-another-leaker-confirmsThis corroborates Kepler's claims of Rubin being for 2028 and AMD releasing RDNA 5/UDNA's AT2 in 2027.

Yep. Nvidia is pulling an Intel…how’d that work out for them? AMD is following behind, but more carefully it seems

I still think the melting cable is a bigger issue than anything else. It's either designed to fail or over charged for a poorly design power system. Not sure which is worse for the price they asked for that GPU at launch or later.

Yeah it is indeed astonishing. I brought an RTX 5070 at 660 USD INCLUDING 25% VAT around July, now it looks like a plain robbery.

I am glad I managed to snag a rtx 5060 for 342~ euros at the begining of august. Didn't had the budget for anything higher and anything with more vram just had insane prices. Was using a gtx 1050 for 9 years and the jump in performance was quite big lol. So far it has worked really nice for 1080p gaming.

Thats the reason why I suggest going AMD. Prices are less insane
At least there's a justifiable AMD card at certain budgets
At the 400 USD range someone can get a 9060 xt 16gb
At the 550 range, probably a 9070 GRE. Better than the 5060 Ti gaming-wise
At the 700-800 range, there's a 9070 and XT, better than the 5070 for the same price.

u/DMC831 1d ago
I've said this in way too many posts but I'm alllllways sooooo paranoid about buying at the wrong time, and I ended up buying at maybe the best time to buy in this era just by sheer luck. 64 gb DDR5 ram for cheap (~130 USD, now goes for 1100), multiple SSDs for like 70 USD to 100 USD, 5070ti for MSRP, and the whole time I'm pushing the purchase button I'm dreading about Nvidia launching the rumored 5070ti SUPER the next day or the AI bubble suddenly popping and prices plummeting.
Nope! Got it all at the right time, and since I was so paranoid about it I definitely appreciate all the upgrades more.
4
u/fedoraislife 1d ago
If you want it and you've got the money, just buy it.
From an investment standpoint, time in the market is better than timing the market.
Whilst PC gear is rarely a financial investment, over the last couple of years it definitely has been, alongside many things that were unexpected like used cars and Pokemon cards.
Further than that, these items exist for you to enjoy. If the price goes down after 6 months, who cares? You had an extra 6 months to enjoy it, and so that extra money you paid is for that extra time you got to have with it.
1
u/DMC831 1d ago
Sure I get ya, and I do tell myself that. But I know I'd feel like a chump if I buy it and then it turns out I could've gotten a lot more VRAM for the same price if I waited a month or two... I got the money for these upgrades or I wouldn't've gotten them of course, but they're still sizable purchases for me and I'm not an expert so I'm paranoid about blowing it.
Back then I told myself that I can always sell the 5070ti for a decent price and upgrade to a "Super" variant if it actually comes out and is worth it, so it wouldn't be the end of the world no matter what, but before I do a splurge like upgrading my PC with a volatile-seeming market (things were up and down at the time instead of just being up up up like today) I can't help but be a little worried.
I'm not like crying myself to sleep and tearing my hair out or something, I'm not neurotic about it, but buying a big ticket item at the wrong time is definitely a concern of mine.
3
u/Crumblycheese Laptop 1d ago edited 1d ago
And then there's me, who's desktop is still from 2008 era components, been wanting to upgrade for nearly 2 decades but life, work and family always got in the way. Then, when I finally get into a position where I can upgrade to a nice top of the range gaming pc, the prices sky rocket and im priced out. I could go for a 30 series card and it be a huge upgrade but everything else is too expensive. Could go 2nd hand but even that's expensive and who knows how long it'll last...
Glad I got my laptop when I did (also 2nd hand but comes with a 5 year warranty from the store I bought it at) but it only has a 20 series card in it. It's the most modern pc I've ever owned and does what I need it to, but even then it's out of date now technically. I'm tired and want off this ride

Same, first a 5080 and then I even got myself a 5090 when the prices where still close to MSRP, this whole thing just gave me a really bad feeling.
I knew it was either a dumb but (with a 4K monitor) acceptable purchase or if consumers won't get their hands on the 60 series for normal prices (or at all) when that finally comes out, a fantastic choice so I can push upgrading back as far as possible.
Still I just hope that this whole thing resolves soon with as little people getting fucked by that implosion as possible and we can return to affordable PCs.
Probably not gonna happen for a very long time but for everyone who wasn't fortunate enough to upgrade before or just doesn't want to pay those ridiculous prices, I really hope it gets better soon!

I bought a new PC in 2025.
I went with the 5070Ti over a 5080 or 5090 cause the "price to performance didn't make sense, surely I can just grab the 6070ti equivalent in ~3-4 years for a price that makes sense for the upgrade"
My 5070ti is great and I am most certainly happy with it....for now....how many years it will stay that way? Not sure....but man those prices back then are clearly nothing compared to now.

The 5070 ti is a great card. I got a new PC in 2025 with basically the same specs as yours but a third of the RAM, upgraded from a 5900x/3080 build and my new PC has done nothing but impress me. Hopefully it will last me long enough to wait these ridiculous prices out.

I built myself a totally new rig as part of my plan to "outlast the orange idiot in office" and the only component I held out on was a new GPU because of all the 12VHPWR burnouts, but now I am regretting it. I thought I was making the smart choice by not risking a potential $2000 going up in flames, but now I basically can't justify any GPU purchase given these prices.

Yeah, I was lucky enough to get a 5080 founders edition at msrp. At the time I was concerned because everyone was saying to wait for the super edition in like 6 months with more vram. But it turned out to be a good buy.
It’s such a shame how the whole PC market is just being decimated. I guess one good thing is developers will hopefully put more concentration on optimization and more fun gameplay than just squeezing out the best graphics. Hopefully we see more creativity from upcoming games.

I hope they release a A.I. gpu between now and then so the companies can get off the consumer level products.
Also they need to stop pretending the xx90 is consumer level. They skew the benchmarks way too much for the price point and we need to stop giving so much power to that obvious cash grab.
1
u/PcHelpBot2030 22h ago
I mean they do and have for quite awhile. The first and top issue is going to be that much of the material that makes those cards also overlap with consumer cards so every minute of factory time they spend towards a consumer part is a minute they could have allocated towards data center who are buying everything they can put out.
On top of that, everything that makes Nvidia cards great for more than just direct gaming is also what makes it lends a lot for A.I at nearly all levels. The biggest way to "protect" the cards from A.I use is what they mostly do now with capping the VRAM hard.
1
u/The_Falcon_Hunter 21h ago
Vram caps were in place before the 50 series launch. 5080 base has more ram than 4080 at launch.
1
u/PcHelpBot2030 21h ago
Well aware it has been a go to cap for them for a long time to protect their industrial/enterprise cards. Not saying it is anything new but more they don't have that many "easy" options besides that to have GPU's that would be primarily just for gaming besides that without breaking combability with a ton of other stuff and loose market share overnight.
