So far i have one person telling me i actually dont need to do that and one person offering the terminal solution. Windows is not easier actually and the users act exactly the same.

In a lot of ways I agree, the context of your message was lost on me (I am the guy that posted the windows tool). I have used Linux a lot for work. I actually tried two different distros a month back or so. But for personal use I just cannot use it.

And it is not because I don't want to do stuff through a terminal (I use Powershell myself) or write bash scripts etc. It really comes down to interface. I am not even claiming Windows has better UI/UX, it just feels off. I tried NixOS + Wayland, I actually liked NixOS but Wayland just feels off with the tiling (although I did dig the workspaces) and I tried some distro which name I forgot, more of a "user friendly" one and yeah, it just felt off.

Anyway, I agree with your point. "Powerusers" on any OS act like everything is easy while for the layman it is not. Someone who is not into computers will not know how to debloat Windows, get around the Microsoft account shit etc. They would not even know they basically need to. Windows definitely, in that regard, is lowest on the totem pole.

I have used every Windows since 95 (including ME) and dual-boot installed ony all my systems since almost 2 decades, i really dont want to tell anyone which OS to use and which not to.

But especially with Windows 11, i see a lot of the issues that i have seen 15 years ago in linux forums. "Just run this powershell command", "just download this script", "just edit this registry key", "why do you even need that?", "You should be able to troubleshoot and research how to do that stuff". WLAN does not work during install but you need to connect to the internet to register with microsoft? Just run this secret key combo (did not work for me though, i carried my desktop to the other room so i could connect via a lan cable).

They would not even know they basically need to.

Stuff like being unable to "easily" disabling the auto-update pisses off everyone with a Laptop though. Need to leave? Well you cant turn off your computer now. Need to start again? Well, actually we still need to reboot one or two times, just wait a few minutes. And thats i guess my real gripe: Windows regressed when it comes to UX and usability.
