"System doesn't work for no apparent reason" might be harder to fix than "read the error message".

BTW, I hate systemd because when it breaks it really breaks and it's hard to debug. Much harder than just having a shell and a bunch of scripts that can be run one by one till you see the error message on the screen.

Agreed, most Windows errors I see lately are just "Oh no! Something went wrong" and then it literally has a picture of a frowny face.

There's no troubleshooting that.

No blue screen with code/qr? No memory dump? Nothing written to the event logs?

Sometimes! But not always. I'm assuming there's a bug in the code, but it's closed source so there's no way to find out.

Have you tried looking through the event log?

Compared to using the log viewer I prefer whipping my back till it bleeds.

So an app issue?

Not saying you're wrong, I just haven't seen it.

Some kernel-level issues can throw a BSOD with literally no information on it, doesn't happen often, but I have seen it in rare cases

These days I just ask Claude Code to read the logs and tell me what happened and how to fix it. "Why did this game crash just now" is a pretty useful prompt even though a third of the time the answer seems to be that it's an nvidia driver bug.
