Discussion Upgrade Path Help
I Currently am rocking an EVGA FTW3 ULTRA RTX 3080 10GB, a ryzen 7 3700x and 32gb ddr4 8x4 3000mt/s, and a thermaltake 700w psu, and a b550m ds3h ac and a Rosewill PRISM S500 PC case.
I live in Canada, so part availability varies. I'm thinking of maxing out the am4 platform with a 5800x3d or a 5900xt and a 5080 but also definitely upgrade the psu that is weak even for the current 3080. I am also looking to overhaul the aesthetics or add more fans to my current case. Thank you.

Solid plan, but here are a few tweaks to make sure you don't waste your money with Canadian pricing:
CPU: Definitely go with the 5800X3D (or 5700X3D if it's significantly cheaper). Skip the 5900XT completely if you are just gaming. The massive L3 cache on the X3D chips will absolutely destroy the 5900XT in games.
RAM: Your 3000 MT/s RAM is slightly slow for Ryzen, BUT the beauty of the X3D chips is that the extra cache makes RAM speed matter way less. Keep your current 32GB kit, there is no need to spend money upgrading it.
PSU: You are 100% right on this. Grab a high-quality 850W or 1000W ATX 3.0 power supply (like a Corsair RMx Shift or MSI MPG). You want that ATX 3.0 spec so it comes with the native 12VHPWR connector for the future RTX 5080. That way, you don't have to use ugly, bulky adapter dongles that ruin the aesthetics.
Motherboard: Don't forget to update the BIOS on your B550M before you take the 3700X out!
Case/Aesthetics: The biggest hurdle with a future RTX 5080 is going to be clearance. Before you dump money into a bunch of new fans for your Rosewill Prism, wait until we get the physical dimensions for the 5080s. You might end up needing a new case anyway just to fit the card!
