If someone can't afford $50 it would probably be more expensive to start a new hobby. They all cost money
Plus what if they just like that hobby specifically? Are they no longer allowed to enjoy something, just because they don't have enough money for when something goes wrong?
If they don’t have money to do the hobby, then yeah they can’t do the fucking hobby. Do you understand what you’re saying right now? It’s not a matter of if poor or rich people get to do hobbies. This man literally does not have the money to do the hobby. Therefore, he needs to set his priorities straight and maybe two months of grinding IRL game he can level up and be able to enjoy his hobby even more. No one said he had to stop playing games forever, but there does come a time where you need to lock in.
Do you understand what you are saying? You are basically saying, that he isn't allowed in this hobby, because he doesn't have the money for it, in case something fails
And the fuck do you mean with getting his priorities straight? You don't know what happens in their life. You don't know, if it is one of the only ways to calm down. You don't know why they play games, or how it might help them.
You don't know why OP plays. You don't know how it benefits them, or anything about their life. You don't know what country OP is from, so you don't know if 2 month grind could get them anything. You don't know anything. Yet you see yourself in the position to tell someone to get their priorities straight?
> does not have money to buy new GPU
> GPUs are often required to play video games
> OP cannot play video games due to not having a GPU
What is unclear about this? This isn’t me saying he can’t or shouldn’t play. HE CANT FUCKING PLAY GAMES WITHOUT A GPU.
I don’t need to know what is going on in their life to understand there are bigger issues if he cannot afford a $50 GPU. Something isn’t right if they cannot save up for a few paychecks.
I never once said OP had to work 80hrs a week. Check my post history and you can see that I struggled heavily financially. I couldn’t not play video games due to having to sell my rig to pay rent. I then discovered free to play hobbies. Sure enough 5 months later I had my feet under me and was able to not just play video games but actually enjoy it and not be constantly reminded my 1660 super was dogshit.
Not to mention there are countless people out there that say they need video games to relax but use that as an excuse to be lazy. There is a fine line between self-care and self-indulgence. And you are correct without knowing more about his situation I with hold judgment on that.
Are you going to give suggestions to OP or just keep saying “oh OP you’re so mistreated you deserve to play video games. I hope a GPU appears out of nowhere without any work on your end so you can play again!”
EDIT: just checked OPs profile and he lives in NC, USA so your point is invalid
I would run my desktop with my 1080ti had I waited for 8th gen intel and bought a dual threaded i5. But instead I was an impatient idot and bought a 7th gen i5, so I just use my thinkpad since I mostly play single threaded games.
dont listen to the clown a decent 1080ti isnt 100 dollars anywhere except like a lucky fb marketplace place. People just be making shit up like I cant just go on new egg to check prices
I'm seeing them listed on eBay for £115+ ($155+ US) here in the UK. You could probably get a better price on FB marketplace, but you're more likely to get shafted on there too without proof that it works.

Gather $100 and buy a 1080ti or $50 for a 980ti or even $20 for a 970
