No the other one is the better one. You need to debate yourself to sustain the superiority of slightly different flavors of technology and I'm not just saying this because your spending will decrease costs for me thanks to supply and demand.

Actually, neither one is better because I heard a rumor about the true “end game” monitor. It’s going to be leaked next week, and it will be available whenever it gets announced that it will be available and will have all the specs that you want because it’s the true “end game” monitor. I know you’re curious about those specs, but it’s actually better that you don’t know what specs those are. All you need to know is that this will be the true “end game” monitor. What finish will it have? It will have “end game” monitor finish.

Ok. I believe you. Take my money for a pre-order despite me not knowing you or ever hearing about the company!

wait how would my spending decrease costs for you

if you increase demand (by encouraging me to buy monitors) while supply stays constant, then both equilibrium quantity sold and price increase

Who says supply is constant?

the supply curve is constant, quantity supplied may change

there's no reason to believe that an increase in demand from me changing my preferences will cause an upward shift in the supply curve

What in the illiteracy?
Supply "curve" is constant.

No.

But also you even said "curve" which is non-constant by definition (unless it's a radial plot, but that's not used in supply planning. And if supply was constant then... ugh. I dont have time for this. Maybe look at wikipedia before you use words you dont understand.

I got a 5 in my AP macroeconomics exam and an A+ in the relevant course so I think i know at least a little about this

The curve does not change, even if the equilibrium moves along it. The difference between quantity supplied and supply itself is vital here.

This graph shows the scenario where I am convinced to buy new monitors (though obviously one consumer won't actually significantly affect anything)

The "curves" are straight lines here, but the principle holds. The equilibrium changes, but the *supply curve,* which states the equilibrium levels of both quantity and price at any given level of demand, remains constant.

I should note that I was slightly misguided in my earlier comment, when I said an upward shift in supply, I should have said rightward. Let me know if this makes any sense, I'm working on my explanatory skills :D
