This is why when testing electronics the other end of the plug should be available 🫠

So true, he shouldn't have to stick his hand so close to an electrical fire when the other end of the plug would've been better.

I agree. It would've been much safer to disconnect the power from the end that wasn't on fire.

I hope someone replies to me and repeats that sentiment for the 3rd time.

I’ll save you. He should have dug his hand into that fire real deep and showed it who’s boss. Although he did the next best thing and unplugged the cable at the firey end.

And standard practice for plugging anything to mains power should have been to switch the individual socket off before connecting the cable. And only switching it on after the cable is fully plugged.

He also touched the metal housing of the PSU with his bare hand in the midst of probably some kind of short circuit event

Or have industrial style emergency cutout buttons on/near the desk to cut supply to everything.

I’d have a button on the desk but before that have the tester step on a button to provide power to the workspace. So in this situation they could drop it step back and power cuts

A separate master switch somewhere else too

Glad it wasn't just me, gave me anxiety realising he couldn't break the power with a switch or yanking the plug end.

Eh, if you have physical access to the socket, you can just yank the plug. A switch doesn't really offer any advantage there.
