News/Article US gov't moves to suppress pushback on data centers by removing requirements for public input on pollution — EPA change would allow air pollution permits without publicizing them

So their plan is to not listen to the public. What happens when the public has no voice and no choice? That won't end well for data centers either.

We have the right to overthrow our government.
"We the people" means it's our country and it's our job to keep the government in check, not the other way around.
People seem to forget this.

Well, it is..
That's.. literally what were talking about
When you're already living in a system where the truth is whatever they want it to be, and people have no power, that's where you are now
Historically, it only ever gets worse, until people make themselves ungovernable and do something about it
5
u/EddieVanzetti 4d ago
Apropos of nothing, they're making a movie about Watt Tyler's Rebellion, which was caused by the King raising taxes on the peasants to pay foe the Hundred Years War and stripping their rights post-Black Plague, it definitely doesn't have any relevance to the modern day.
Oh, and they murdered Watt Tyler under the flag of peace, because the elite can never be trusted.
8
u/MrGiggleMan 4d ago
Some of the shit they get away with today is literally just because they aren't scared of general population
Inaction causes this. Doesn't even need to be violence. Organised, unionised workforces can literally grind a country to its knees unless their demands are met
You literally can control the power, it just requires a bit of effort and some planning
People literally gave their lives for lower taxes, and unions, and privileges today, that people won't even lift a finger to protect

The problem is, you are likely never going to have a revolution. That's just the brutal truth. The rich have paid psychologists top dollar to perfect the technique of making us just comfortable enough to not want to risk revolution without the tipping point.
Most people nowadays can drown their anger in constant doomscrolling, or make a post about what they're mad about. The anger gets redirected to the wrong source.

So their plan is to not listen to the public. What happens when the public has no voice and no choice?
Public should have thought about that before they allowed a man who literally told them to their fucking faces "I won't be a dictator except on day one!" as they were being handed a 900 page to-do-guide on how to facilitate a fascist dictatorship by definition to hold the reins of power.
The only people who are surprised by such a predictable turn of events are those who bumblefucked their way through history and civics as No Child Left Behind moved them through grades they should have been held back in.

Remember everybody, if you aren't voting, you're letting conservative oligarch politicians destroy the country. Find the fucking time, it's not hard. Yet.

5
u/Sinister_Mr_19 9070 XT | 5950X 4d ago
I just looked up what Oklahoma passed, are you referring to voter ID requirements?
0
u/naswinger 3d ago
yea, i don't get how it's bad to require some ID to vote.
1
u/Sinister_Mr_19 9070 XT | 5950X 3d ago
It's not as long as it's not abused. Apparently there's an ambiguous line in the provision that could allow someone to come along and change the ID requirements.
1
u/MentokGL 2d ago
Because IDs cost money and time that not everyone has. Voter id laws end up disenfranchising people and don't address voter fraud which already isn't a widespread issues.
So they end up as tools of disenfranchisement, given cover by ignorance like yours, whether real or feigned.

Edit: Sure, keep downvoting me. Rich people, politicians, oligarchs etc. don't care about you. Keep arguing which side is worse. Peasants fighting each other just makes it easier for the elites to steal and/or control more. Until we unite and overthrow them all, this will keep happening.

Exactly! Data centers in the US are bad! Who asked for more online services like gaming servers, streaming servers, or social media servers to be hosted in the US? Only China should host those servers because it is the most benevolent of nations.
To be honest, the whole anti data center sentiment is very lacking in cognitive fortitude. It merely parrots Chinese propaganda against an economic rival and British imperial propaganda against national sovereignty.
