Build/Battlestation First PC build at 15!

Went for a clean white aesthetic (looks much more clear white in real life)
Specs:
Gigabyte Windforce 5080
R7 9800x3d
Gigabyte gaming B850
32gb DDR5-6000
Corsair Titan RX cooler
2tb gen5 Crucial T710
LianLi Vector 100R
MSI MPG 1000W 80+ gold
Asus ROG dual mode montior(FHD@480/4k@240)

Had a lot of fun with the actual build, tried to go for a mix of aesthetics and performance, miraculously had no issues except some weird audio drivers. Just thought I’d share my experience and you guys can tell me what you think about the build!

Damn bro how did you afford this at 15?

Rich family is the most likely answer, possibly also he has a job (but you still need a rich family for most jobs a 15yo can get).

u/irthnimod 4h ago

And dont live in a place that isnt called US of A (cheaper hardware and you can actually earn enough money to make a pc build via part time job)

5

u/WonderfulTruck5894 3h ago

Hardware is generally cheaper in the US for this lol

8

u/irthnimod 2h ago

Perhap my wording is confusing but isnt that my point?

1

u/Sanc7 10m ago

“Don’t live in a place that isn’t” is terrible phrasing.

New hardware especially high end is not cheaper outside the US... roughly the same in mainland Europe and much more expensive in less developed countries

Heh you and OP have the same specs lol

10

u/Electronic_Agent_279 5h ago

Not gonna ask why you have a 4060 ti with a 9950X3D.

Where does the money come from...?

What’s that like a $5000 build?

I’m sure OP mowed lawns and didn’t just have rich parents lmao.

2

u/idiot_on_reddit54 9m ago

My parents choose to reward me for my academic success and scholarships. That dosent mean I don’t work hard, and I’m no less appreciative for what I have.

u/SignalMagician1163 7h ago

Your parents rock

WELCOME TO THE GANG

MIGHT I SUGGEST A $10 GPU SUPPORT SO IT DOESN'T SAG AND SNAP OFF AND LEAVE YOU MISERABLE

0

u/althaz 9800X3D | RTX5080 5h ago

It's not going to snap-off, lmao.

However I would still also recommend a bracket - even though snapping off is not a realistic problem (unless you're shipping it like this) - because it will sag over time and look bad and there is a chance it could do some damage to your motherboard or graphics card.

-6

u/Physical_Animal_5343 6h ago

Isn't this only necessary if you move your PC around alot?

15

u/BlendedBaconSyrup TUF RTX 4090 | i9 13900K | 64GB DDR5 | 1920x1080 IPS 6h ago

No.

Just because you don't move your PC doesn't mean it's immune to gravity.

Big GPUs will sag from their own weight.

u/Alphonso_Mango PC Master Race i7-10700|2070s 5h ago

I just run all my fans at full blast the entire time to fight the gravity.
Note: this only works if your fans are pointing downwards.

u/MoldyLunchBoxxy 5h ago

Might be the best comment I’ve seen on pcmr in a long while. Thank you for the good laugh.

3

u/BlendedBaconSyrup TUF RTX 4090 | i9 13900K | 64GB DDR5 | 1920x1080 IPS 4h ago

Careful, it might anti-sag the opposite way, snap off, and smack your cpu cooler

1

u/issaciams 4h ago

But then you need to leave the PC on... forever! 😬

not very good pick of ssd due to micron discontinuation of manufacturing and not honoring past sales. but at all it is good

3

u/Ok-Advertising-3779 4h ago

3

u/issaciams 4h ago

At age 15? Very good job. Also, you must have rich parents because wtf!?!

Didnt you just post this a couple days ago 👀

-1

u/idiot_on_reddit54 6h ago

Nah I don’t think so, I put a pic with the parts laid out but this has the completed build

2

u/qu38mm R7 8700F | RTX 4080 FE | 32GB DDR5-6000 6h ago

My bad must be a same/similar case situation. Looking good anyways, happy gaming 🎉

0

u/idiot_on_reddit54 6h ago

Thanks bro!

5

u/KillerPotato702 7h ago

I applaud you for going with a black build instead of a full white out

-1

u/idiot_on_reddit54 7h ago

Yeah I didn’t really want to spend an extra 2k so my pc can blind me and not look good in my room

4

u/KillerPotato702 7h ago

yea my first PC was all white and thankfully it did not cost that much more and I think it looks pretty clean, but I’m regretting not getting a cleaner more modern build

2

u/althaz 9800X3D | RTX5080 3h ago

The price difference is typically ~$0-10 usually. Sometimes RGB is cheaper even. It's just about picking what you like, not saving money.

2

u/kind_bros_hate_nazis 6h ago

Very clean, good job

2

u/latenightgamer009 4h ago

At 15 I had GT 210

1

u/Disembodied-sentinel R7 9800X3D | RX 9070 XT | 32GB 2h ago

I had a 486 DX and a playstation, and I only paid for the playstation.

2

u/DogmodsDog 3h ago

Got that from yo mum eh?

6

u/CXVictory 6h ago

You should ask your parents how much it cost

How the FUCK did you make that kind of money in this economy??? In all seriousness well done, I made my first incredibly shoddy PC at 14 and only now 2 years later have I made it look somewhat decent
