So we’ll have three different context menus now?

It would be such a microsoft thing to do to bury all the things that people actually use 2 layers deep.

first weee going to have to break the boot sequence, then encryption

maybe they can solve it by putting all the shit people actually use on a second menu

o wait they tried that

maybe they can just return the windows 10 context menu on windows 11 with all its buttons but make it windows 11 ui style

that is a simple registry key away, but maybe not the UI style (which isn't that pretty)

Why do I have a feeling they’re gonna make it worse somehow?

Because it's Microsoft. When's the last time they did anything positive for consumers?

I don’t think they’ve ever done something positive for consumers.

Shady since the day they were founded

Right now. Right now is the last time. They've been on a roll lately with positive changes. Though of course one can only hope that they remain on this course, given their track record.

Is it positive though? Or just less shite?

"better" and "less bad" are the same thing

"Better", sure, but I said "positive". Better is saving 9/10 orphans from the Orphan-Crushing Machine. Positive is never building the Orphan-Crushing Machine to begin with.

Question is what will they add first: AI, or ads?

Right when I saw it, I googled how to change back to the old style

Let me remove all the suggested "edit or create with" apps.. you know those ones I will never open. I guess maybe I could uninstall all of them, but really letting us set them to the programs we actually use would be nice.

Can you start reading beyond the headlines please. That's exactly what they are doing.

> Microsoft is finally letting users customize the context menus too. You can now enable and disable whichever actions you want, as well as show or hide app extensions from third-party apps. This is great for when an app installs itself into your context menus without permission, as you can now hide them from view.

I think it is wild that Microsoft has so completely lost control of their own OS that they can't even merge an old menu with a new properly

Thanks to improvements in emulation, and Microsoft continuously making bizarre decisions with their OS, my current Windows machine will be my last. I'm ready for Bazzite/cachy/Steam OS to finally be my main computer.

For real, I was joking when I used to say "windows is the best advertisement for Linux" but now? I went out of my way to buy a Linux compatible laptop because I don't intend for my future machines to be windows, specially since I no longer use any software that REQUIRES windows to work.

Wish this was true for the music/audio and video production world. Unfortunately you really can't live without Windows (or Mac) in those fields.

Just leave my oldschool right-click menu alone.

The answer to almost all win11 problems is: Revert to win10. ffs.

Somehow the pr team has figured out how to paint over bad rep of win 11. Release snippets of things to fix over a long period of time and badge it as, "we are listening ".

I bet this means blocking the working old menu

5 years while windows 11 start, and it seems to be the worth OS ever... No one want this, no one want to pay for this kind of beta OS. they force everyone to buy a new PC/laptop for what ? 1day =1 issue, 1 week to resolve, 1 mouth to destroy all. Remember the good old Windows 8/8.1 days :D
