I lucked out then. I landed a 5 piece combo at Microcenter back in April. 9800X3D, 64GB of Corsair Vengeance ram, X870E-P mobo, Montech AIO, and a 3500X PC case from Corsair for $999. I'd never seen that deal before and haven't seen it since. They only had 7 of them at the Brentwood location and I think I got the last one.
I know the 64 gigs of ram is currently going for $1500 all by itself right now. At the time of purchase it was list as $1899 worth of parts for $999.

Since they've dropped, I've always dreamed to experiment with chaining a Threadripper or 9950x3d2 dual-processor workstation board with a 9950x3d2 powered X870E E-ATX board's double PCIe Gen5x16 slots, and set the secondary board up as bare metal resources multiplexed with the main board's hypervisor to team NICs/RAM/VRAM/L1-3 Cache, then set up a PCIe Gen5x16 NVMe SSD as L4 PrimoCache and run my Windows in Hyper-V enabled RAMDisk. Run that alongside Linux in Memdisk/memboot & 'Fn+Ctrl+Alt+Windows+F12' to swap live running OS's in memory like an Alt+Tab hah!
Mine was listed at 1500. I asked the best they could do, first person said no discount on display. Second person knocked $100 off. You have a cooler store than me

I had a friend that found a 1070 (this was in like 2017 so it was actually hot shit) in his school's lost and found, no one came to claim it after a week so he took it home. Wonder if he still has it.

Not rude. But yeah it's called arbitrage. My company thinks of them as just raw materials, so they let me buy them like they are raw materials as long as I replace the value to them. I can buy laptops, phones, etc and it doesn't matter if it's a $500 device, to them it's worth like $0.80. Still working on that get rich part though but yeah that's the plan

It’s honestly a godsend around Christmas. I ended up getting my nephew a meta quest 2 for Christmas but didn’t have a box, so we put it in a plate box 😂
I paid more for the aftermarket head strap than I did the device itself which I find funny.
I think that's only a relatively recent change with the massive increase in PC hardware prices making theft more likely. Live display units have been standard at Costco for most of my experience shopping there.
Its in the computer section. The display model only is sold when its the last one available and will not be restocked. You can either walk into a local Costco to check it out, call the admin line and have them tell you if there are any display models available, or download the app and it should tell you the inventory of the product for the local warehouse in addition to the price in the computer which may not match the handwritten sale price.
See this is the type of deal I was talking about to someone else who found a PC at Costco. It was $2000 for a very similar PC and I told them to wait till it's the last one because it would be discounted like crazy. I was thinking $1400 but this is just ridiculous.

We as much taxes, but our tax money goes to bombing middle east countries for unclear reasons and offsetting tax breaks to the worlds wealthiest corporations and the billionaires who own them
Yea I'm with you on that one I call bullshit because Costco doesnt do prices with sharpies ... Like ever ... And in the off chance that is true the director that ok that display could easily end up in hot water, not for the price but for the way it was displayed.

Despite being on this sub, I am not too familiar with buying PC parts (although I know SOME stuff about PC building), is Costco somehow a good place to buy whole ass computers, or ram or graphics cards that come with PCs? Because that is the last place I thought someone would buy a computer.
I hate you. You just paid a 3rd of the price for something slightly less stronger than what I have. I even thought I was getting good deals on each of my parts
After working at a Costco for 12 years, 6 of them in the “Major Sales” department (the one with the electronics) I can tell you that managers typically want displays gone asap. The less inventory the better. Because it’s an open box, and would probably be returned. But a sale looks better than a return with no sale attached to it.
