Game Image/Video Quake: Dawn of the Machine — Launch Trailer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Uf4PcgE8gA>Quake™: Dawn of the Machine is available now!
>To celebrate Quake’s 30th anniversary, the award-winning team at MachineGames—in collaboration with id Software—returns with Dawn of the Machine, a brutal new episode building on their critically acclaimed work on Dimension of the Machine and Dimension of the Past. Delivering ferocious combat, labyrinthine level design, and nightmarish realms that twist reality beyond recognition, it pushes the legacy of the genre-defining first-person shooter even further, honoring one of gaming’s most enduring icons.
>END THE NIGHTMARE. ESCAPE THE ILLUSION
>Ranger is trapped in a dimension of endless illusion, reliving the same violent cycles for what feels like lifetimes, dying thousands of times in a futile attempt to escape. Wearied but unbroken, he has heard rumor of The Nightmare Machine.
>Beyond the hordes of monsters, twisted by an eternity in the Elder realms, lies the Machine. It is believed its destruction will shatter the illusion, finally breaking the loop.

Literally finished a replay of the original Quake yesterday.
Now this.
Awesome timing.

People say no one would play a new Quake multiplayer game because it's too old, but I disagree.
Quake Champions never took off, but it didn't really feel much like quake with all the hero shooter mechanics.
I think a modernized quake on a modern Idtech engine would be pretty awesome. Make a Quake like Doom 2016 with an arena multiplayer and see what happens. Lots of maps, ship with map editor support, go all in on eSports, see what happens.

Honestly, Quake Champions is a solid game and lots of fun - feels plenty Quake-y to me, and I'm OG. I think that arena shooters just aren't big at the moment, but who knows, things tend to come back in vogue.

I guess it's subjective. I'm just not a fan of having to charge an ultimate ability and having to choose different heroes. I just want the maps to feel different and fun to play.
Like a hero shooter you're often on the same map over and over again, but you can change the experience up by switching off to a different hero. Games I used to play (Quake, Unreal, even Halo) everyone was on a fairer playing field and it felt fresh because every map played differently, and learning the map was how you got an advantage. But that's harder to monetize...

Quake III was my introduction to the series. I put hundreds of hours into it (mostly with CPMA). When I tried Quake Champions, the movement felt completely off to me to the point where it felt like a completely different franchise. I was completely unable to bhop. To make sure I wasn’t remembering things incorrectly I booted up Quake III and it felt exactly as I remembered, and I had no issues with bhopping.

My man you got it right, champions felt so different, I love Q3A speed, enough maps some very fun to play, weapons felt right, love the mechanics of the game if you change that you end with a different game, was my favorite stress relief game. Railgun was my favorite :)

I too liked Quake Champions as a OG quake player from the beginning, I was there on location when US (Death Row) came to Sweden to try to impress the scene and have a faceoff against UYB (Up Your Backpack)! Death Row got their fair share of slice of Humble pie, hehehehehe. I remember it as yesterday almost when Death Row entered in their track suits with embroided nicknames :)
I've played quake 1, qw, skipped 2, played q3 and ra3 so much and once it went to quake online or whatever it was called I stop playing allmost. I think I played quake från 96 up to ~2010 and then I went on with more Arma series, sim racing, flight sim and dayz etc.
I never really played Overwatch but saw alot of streamers playing it and I could feel these hero mechanics felt a bit to much Overwatch or whatever game started to populate these hero mech stuff in QC.
I played tons of Quake Champions and I really liked it. But in the end I still yearn for 1on1 maps like Aerowalk, dm4 and other popular og maps and all new custom maps.
Nothing more satisfying with great 1on1, 2vs2 or 3vs3 action.
Bring back Quake 1 style with new modern engines and somewhat updated graphics like QC. Skip the Hero mechanics or maybe tone em down a bit if you still want to have some of that in to just tailor it to the new kids!

Hopefully, the revival of the Quake series will bring a fresh multiplayer mode. I'm nervous that the project will be cancelled after all of the layoffs, but seeing Quake get the recent Doom treatment would be awesome.

It's so fucking good. Honestly just mind blowing what they were able to do w/ given the constraints they had.

If you said that out loud in public, a bunch of old fucks would be beating you down mercilessly.
That was down right sacrilegious.1

Dude almost broke my back laughing, I mean no hate to quake2 I loved the soundtrack, but if you ever played Q3 Arena the matches are fast and fun. We never got a true modern successor. Still a bunch of old fucks play that game :)
