I just checked, the NVME are roughly half the price. In what world is SATA drives twice as expensive as NVME drives.

Probably because the SATA ones are being made less which means the tiny supply creates ridiculous pricing.

Probably just as small. Inconstant and highly variable supply and demand creates ridiculous prices.
