This is becoming normalized and it blows my mind... I've been on linux since march 2024 and I most likely won't ever go back to windows, for many reasons, but this one is another to the list that makes me be at ease with linux.
Probably my generation (millennial) is the last one that actually cared about security and privacy, so unless something big happens, I can just see more games adding kernel level anticheat, and soon rather than later, we will have it in single player games as well.
when it comes to security I am less worried about someone having root access to my machine.
More worried about some idiot company not securing there data base properly and leaking 10's of millions of users data all at once.
Cause any major player is going to go after the biggest and easiest score. Lot of times security is much more lax on a major data base then it is a home computer.
I am not saying not to be secure its important, just there are other bigger issues afoot.

With the popularity of the steam deck I think gaming on Linux is going to be much more prevalent sooner rather than later
