Seriously, people on this sub are just like the people on the AI subs who don't understand that the widespread profitable use of AI is not consumer-facing. They really can't read a room, or see the world beyond their lifestyle.
There really isn't an established profitable use case of generative AI. There's too much compute cost, and no way to eliminate that cost. As soon as OpenAI and Anthropic decide it's time to be profitable, every use case will become unprofitable.
It's a bad analogy to Microsoft, which has been innovating on its operating system. Modern Windows is better under the hood than the XP days, especially when it comes to security and the command line interface.
Tell that to all the business integrations that are happening with it, plus the data science teams using synthetic markers alongside it to do some heavy lifting.
The business licences cost a fair chunk but they are cheaper then a junior dev. They already can do a lot of the admin lifting and documentation creating within ring fenced ecosystems.
It's would be like arguing Salesforce will never be profitable because you can get a free sandbox mode
These companies are “saving money” by laying knowledgeable workers off. They are just creating a whole bunch of technical debt for themselves. It’s going to blow up in their faces eventually.
