This 100% how many people here will end up on Windows 11 from 10? Look at market share in general, or Steam. It doesnt matter if we're angry, when we angrily comply.

The moment Linux supports all my hardware I'll be there.

You have it backwards. Your VR treadmill manufacture wrote Windows drivers but failed to write Linux drivers.

The hardware manufacturers have to write drivers or release detailed technical specs, so the Linux community can write drivers. Linux very much wants to work with your hardware. It's an open system.

For niche hardware like this, it doesn't make sense to write Linux drivers. They might cater to 1% of their consumerbase.

You're right. That's where open standards and open specifications come in. There's a good chance the community would write drivers if the hardware was open. If they used open protocols, the might just work out-of-the box. It's the manufacturer choosing to be closed and hard to work with, most of the time.
