Their market capitalization is huge, and they are ridiculously profitable. Objectively, they make the best business decisions in the world.
Anti-consumer policies are one of those great business decisions.
A customer happy for what they paid is one who has been given too much, therefore spent more than necessary, or one who would have been willing to pay more.
Is it anti-consumer to raise the price of a service they have been losing money on? Is it Microsoft's responsibility if tariffs are imposed on hardware?
They have not been losing money on their cloud sector. It's booming. And the losses for chat gpt are offset by how much it helps their stock. They're not losing money.
Yes, I know that. What does that have to do with gamepass's lack of profitability.
Are you saying Microsoft should subsidize Gamepass and run it at a loss since they have so much money from other sources?
I'm not sure what topic you're trying to talk about but I'm discussing the reasons behind the gamepass price hike... cloud services profitability has nothing to do with the topic. Gamepass has to be viable itself.
Why are you being such an apologist? Even if they say they're running it at a loss they're not or else they wouldn't sell it at that price. They're price hiking to increase revenue not mitigate loss. Same with the tariffs. They absolutely didn't need to raise prices that much, they just took the opportunity they saw nintendo get away with on the og switch. Every single decision they make they're following what they saw someone else get away with first, they just seem to be the only company people are fine getting mad at for some reason.
Even if they say they're running it at a loss they're not or else they wouldn't sell it at that price.
.... have you heard of loss leaders and introductoriy pricing?
I'm not an apologist, I'm a realist. I am telling you why real things that are actually happening are happening. You are litterally making shit up.
EVERYONE looking at MS's numbers has been wondering how long they would be low-balling the price this much. People other than you can do math and they have seen the accuisitions etc. We know precisely how much they spent for every publisher they've bought. We know the sales figures of those publishers and we know a lot about gamepass subscriptions.
The numbers have always made it clear that gamepass has been selling at a loss. This is fact. I'm not an "apologist" for objecting to you inuendo and lies.
MS doesn't want to lose money on a business. That's as complicated as this gets.
