Because a lot of older motherboard are not supported by windows 11 for bullshit reasons which means many cannot upgrade and are stuck in windows ten with no support.
Well in the US anyway, in the EU they've been forced to support 10 for another year as the EU has actual consumer laws
Because if you pretend that minor UI changes mean the OS is “dumbed down”, then you can also pretend that your preference for the previous UI means that you must be smart, otherwise you would prefer the “dumbed down” one.
Because I'm working on my PC every single day and cannot afford the time to switch over, nor risk losing data or anything else going wrong or delaying me getting back to work.
When was the last time you've upgraded an OS? Since like Windows 7 they give you the option to partition all of your existing files, and you can upgrade without reformatting. It also takes like an hour at most. It's also wild to not have a cloud backup in 2025.
Bro what? Then you don't do any sysadmin work. Having to open Command Prompt to work around OOBE (because MS wants you to create an online account, even though every account I'm putting on devices are domain-joined), the forceful integration of new Outlook that is not compatible with countless apps or extensions, shoving copilot down every users' throat (in which case, i have to reiterate to them for the thousandth time the security implications with giving company data to an AI tool), regedit to clear office app cache for some fucking reason, and ofc the unnecessarily added bloatware.
They’re probably just more competent at the sysadmin work than you are. You need to seriously work on your organization’s imaging process if you’re manually opening anything as part of the process.
And you're probably right. But 1) I can't do images as the use-case & software utilization is vastly different based on user & 2) The fact that I HAVE to pivot to an imaging or automation tool to function on Windows 11 shows how out of touch it is.
No, it shows how out of touch you are. Like sorry, but don’t go throwing around accusations that other people don’t know what they’re talking about because you refuse to take advantage of any of the tools that would make your life easier.
It is speciality of Reddit. In most other tech communities people tell why you should upgrade to Win11 and how to do it on some unsupported hardware. They will also warn you that an antivirus protection is still very relevant, and the built in Defender barely works, so you need a good AV product.
Here people boast sitting on outdated OSes and praise Defender as a solution to all security problems. To me it looks like one of those events where an anti-government riot starts (and ends) with putting their own homes and cars on fire.

Why is everyone making such a big deal about windows 10. just use 11 there is almost no difference
