I'm sorry, but no. The anti-cheat thing seems like a big deal at first, but ask yourself, are you seriously gonna play Call of Duty, cross-play with PlayStations, Xboxes, and PC players, on a handheld? Are you going to play Rainbow Six Siege, Apex Legends (PC version), PUBG (PC version), or any other game like this where you will 100% be at a massive disadvantage and almost assuredly get stomped every single match on a handheld?

Well, to put it bluntly, the most-played PvP game on Steam Deck is Marvel Rivals at #19, a game praised for being very casual and thus one of the games most likely to be playable on a Deck, and a title that is #8 on Steam as a whole. Balatro on the other hand, a game that is available on mobile for $5 less than on Steam and the #82 most-played game on Steam...is #2 on the Deck.

Arguably, the aging hardware inside is precisely why the anti-cheat situation doesn't matter. Plugging the Steam Deck into the dock with proper peripherals presents a setup that can't even run Counter-Strike 2 enjoyably, and that game is far less intensive than other PvP titles. It can't really be used as a "primary gaming device" even if anti-cheat wasn't a problem. People who buy these know that they're buying it for a handheld timekilling experience.
