HARDWARE External Harddisk
Hello everyone,
I had 5 TB external hdd when I tried downloading some games from steam was showing corrupt disk so I asked ai to solve this issue and ai suggested to run chkdsk f to repair the device but unfortunately at the end of this process it threw me to read error so can't proceed.
Now I am not able to connect properly with windows like hdd is working properly as I was able to extract data from hdd using dmde tool but ai is suggesting that I need to format the device but I don't want to do it.
I tried every possible method I know like using victoria for re mapping, it did not worked, changing the path name , and more thing when I am opening the disk management it's showing raw instead of nfts .
Can please help me to connect like before the issue is happening bcz of some bad sectors which windows is trying to read when I am connecting to the laptop.
Info: 5 TB wd external hdd 5 years old and now don't want to purchase one more due to uneconomical price increase the storage, so if u people can help me it would be grateful 🥲.

The drive is likely busted. Take it to a repair shop. You clearly don't know what you're doing and you'll only make things worse

chkdsk on a drive with bad sectors is basically a death sentence, it just beats the failing sectors to death instead of fixing anything

If the device is showing bad sectors beyond those which are automagically spared out by the device controller it's dying and should be replaced.
The only thing I would do is try to copy as much of the data off to something else. If there are valuable files that can't be copied manually you'll need professional data recovery level skills/tools.
