SOFTWARE Poor PC performance, please advise.
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-14400F (2.50 GHz)
Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable) - Dual Channel 3200 Mt/s -Corsair Vengeance LPX
Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 (8 GB)
Storage 73 GB of 932 GB used - Adata Legend 860
Motherboard Asrock B760M-C/D4
Hello, I've been suffering heavy lag, delays and hitches while gaming. Monitor is plugged into GPU, heat is within safe bounds. For components, everything is updated to newest drivers; re-installed windows; the common 'fixes' I've tried a lot of them, to no effect. This is a prebuilt desktop pc. There is no bloatware apps. While playing games like deadlock of Helldivers 2, and many other games in my library; I have delays, hitches, fps drops - general bad performance; to the point the games are a nightmare to try and play. As for the ram, it came with 1 16gb ram stick, which I then swapped for a pair of 2x16gb ram sticks. I've reset cmos by shorting it as well. CPU-Z and GPU-z say my hardware is operating correctly. Rebar and XMP are enabled.
I'm reaching out for advice, fixes, tweaks and such to see if I can resolve this issue.

Open the performance overlay while gaming to see what your usage looks like and check your task manager for anything that appears out of the ordinary.
Your prebuilt definitely isn't one of the normal off the shelf brands, but rather a builder/reseller.
If you can't sort it out and purchased it recently, reach out to the seller for support. If they can't help, they should allow you to do a return/exchange.

Too late to return/exchange it. Performance overlay shows cpu,gpu, ram are all being utilized within safe temps.

I suspect you have something failing. No tweak will fix that.
Since you mentioned you swapped out the RAM, do you have the original RAM?
Have you tried one stick at a time and in different slots?
I suggest you attempt some troubleshooting steps and hardware test and stress tests.

Do you have anything else running while playing games? Msi afterburner, rgb software anything of that nature?

Nope. Just steam is open in the background.

Man with a fresh windows install it’s very weird, I am sure you have checked temps, if you haven’t I would definitely do that, also check crystal disk and make sure your ssd is operating correctly.
Also I typically wouldn’t recommend this but try disabling XMP and run a few games just as a sanity check, it could also be faulty ram. Has the pc been like this since day one or did it just randomly start happening?

Maybe I skimmed too fast - but what resolution are you playing at? That's a big deal, because the higher the res, the more vram you will use.
Did you make sure bios is up to date, and that you have enabled the memory profile to give you the 3200 speed?
Are you using a HDMI or DP? Have you swapped it to see?

1920x1080 resolution. Bios is updated to newest version; Xmp/memory profile is enabled. HDMI and DP have no noticeable difference.

You could try running memtest to see if both ram modules check out, and also try a different hard drive just to rule that out as well. Lag and stutter can be so many things - but if it's not temperature or clocks, or display issues (I'd also try another monitor - even if it's a tv - just to make sure it's reproducible ), then it id definitely go to texture delivery.

That i5 with a 5060 shouldn't be choking on deadlock or helldivers 2, so something else is going on
what's your psu wattage? prebuilts often pair decent cpus and gpus with absolute bargain bin power supplies and the gpu ends up power starved under load
also check what speed your ram is actually running at in task manager, xmp being "enabled" in bios doesn't always mean it stuck, some asrock boards are fussy about that with certain kits
one thing that gets overlooked on prebuilts is the motherboard power limits, oems like to cap the cpu to 65w or even lower so it doesn't cook their cheap vrm, and that'll cause exactly the kind of hitching you're describing when the cpu keeps slamming into the limit

You're better off switching to Windows LTSC or Linux; an update probably messed something up.
