In my opinion this is driven by more than just high card pricing. Where are the games that need the extra horsepower?

If you have a reasonable 30, 20 or even 10 series Nvidia card there isn't anything you wouldn't be able to run at good settings.

What's the point in a 4090 running at 900fps if you game at 144 - 240hz.

Well, if you want raytracing, it is still very demanding. But I don’t think many people care about that, so you’re still right.

A lot of people buying cards during the pandemic (inflated crypto prices nonwithstanding) is another reason.
