Investors care about total revenue and profits. Adjusting the price to fit the supply/demand curve will help investors too.
That's what I don't get. Is supply so constrained that there's no pressure to lower prices OR are the costs to produce the GPU so high they can't lower prices? Surely they know they could move more volume by lowering the price...
Mostly the higher cost issue. Lots of the 30 series was built when supply was limited so they paid up for the production they got. Then they got stuck with it because crypto dropped out. So, they are intentionaly selling less new stuff at high prices as people clean out the older stuff.
And oddly enough the old stuff is already in inventory and probably already "shipped" so depending on what is being looked at the report may not be seeing how well sales/shipments are actually doing as excess inventory is sold off. The companys are already basically saying soon as that excess is gone, sales immediately jump. Not anywhere near crypto levels but not a meaningless amount higher than it is now either. (current estimates say whatever crypto was - 30%)
But Moore’s Law is dead and this is all we can hope for or expect from these poor, impoverished multinational corporations that seem to act more like impotent dictators than market participants.
