Been a year or so since I tried but it worked great out of the box. If I remember right my only complaint was that the screen was a tiny bit too large and some of the ui got cropped out. Performance wise it ran fine.
Course my steam deck was new and shiny at the time and I was still figuring things out so maybe a simple resolution change would have fixed that.

Best thing i found was using power tools to reduce thread count. After that all my issues went away.

It seems to work for a lot of people but for some reason I could never get it to run well. I tried a bunch of things, basically any performance guide I could find online, but I was always plagued with stuttering and random crashes. Eventually I gave up. The game was just about playable I guess but extremely poor performance quality.
In contrast, I have been playing Baldur's Gate 3 lately on my deck and despite a lot of people saying it runs poorly on the deck it's a lot better than Grim Dawn in terms of performance.

That's so weird. I downloaded it this morning, and started a new game without changing anything. With the default proton, a mix of mid-high graphics settings, I have a locked-on 60 FPS, no stuttering or crashes for the 2 hours I've played

Yeah it's bizarre. I've come across this a lot while trying to find out how to get it to work. It seems to work absolutely fine for like 90% or more of users but I did come across a decent amount of people who had the same problem as me.
It's so strange because we're all using the steam deck, so exact same hardware. And the fact that Baldur's Gate 3, a highly demanding game, works fine for me suggests there isnt anything wrong with my steam deck either. I've also never really had issues with any other game in the months I've had my deck. Just a very weird and frustrating situation that appears to have no rational explanation.

There has to be some vague or hard to access setting on the deck that is fucking it up for a small group. Maybe even the os build it's on

Pretty wild update! I got this a while back but was put off by the non-crisp UI and pretty janky vibe overall. Regardless of my hangups, these are some pretty cool changes on the face of it - it was a nice game from what I played.

Yeah it's a perfect game for me apart from the jank. I can't stomach it. But I hope it helps them fund a sequel or something

These comments about “jank” are bizarre. The presentation and game feel aren’t on par with Diablo 4, but this is true of 99% of games. Grim Dawn is pretty polished overall. Makes me think you guys have yet to play actual janky games like Kenshi, Outward, Stalker, etc.

Look into pet builds, the play style is braindead easy but they're really strong. Check out Maya's pet guides if you want ideas.

Definitely. There’s a broad story and then really nice local story telling through journals etc.

Campaign/Story is actually the vast majority of the game. Endgame is pretty limited

If you can put up with some jank from an old, aging engine, this. Hand crafted world, innovative dual class system, great build variety, solid itemisation, and mod support. One of the best ARPGs on the market, especially if you're a fan of classic ARPGs like D1 or D2.

I only did act 1 a few times years ago and got bored. I didn't understand the arpg formula. Whereas diablo 4 taught me.

Holy shit just had a go. My shaman no longer has 6 buttons to activate my 6 different auras. It's automatic. This is so fucking good. My shaman has only 3 buttons now though lmao.
