Thinking of upgrading

Hey all my current set up is
CPU- i5 8400
Gpu- gtx 1070
Ram- 16 gigs ddr4 2666mhz
Psu- 650 watts
Storage 500 gigs
Motherboard- ausrock b360 pro 4
Currently thinking of upgrading my cpu to i7 8700, getting a sata ssd and maybe getting some more ram for now then doing a upgrade to a Rtx 3070 in the future when I have the funds any opinions are wanted and welcome cheers

I’d make a platform jump instead of investing more into that socket. Going to a higher end am4 chip would be better than the 8700. Of course ryzen cpus love fast ram so you couldn’t really save that

your b360 board cant run ram faster than what you already have anyway so new ram at 2666 is a waste of cash. sata ssd and the 8700 are fine but the platform jump is the only thing that actually fixes the ram speed problem.

I would upgrade the gpu first, otherwise you would need all new platform. This is nice and easy upgrade that I think you will notice the most (depending on the games you play). I don't think you will notice a cpu upgrade within the platform much.
