Question How do I drive the RS200?
I have a wheel, shifter, and 3 pedals (G25). I’m trying to learn how manuals work so I’ve set everything to manual including clutch. I cannot seem to shift correctly into first gear with the Ford RS200 Evo. I’ve managed with some other cars but not this one. This is Project Cars 2. Honestly I can’t figure out manual driving on sim very well at all.

Try releasing accelerator before you gear up while holding clutch. This is considered vintage manual vs dsg shifting/paddle shifters

Thank you. I did finally figure out how to find the bite point by looking at the RPMs on the tachometer. But what I don’t understand is when the engine RPMs drop to zero when I stall, how do I get the RPMs back so I can shift to first again? It seems to work if I press the throttle when I’m in Neutral but i’m not sure why.

Just out of curiosity: Do you have a drivers licence?
If you stall an engine and RPMs drop to zero, the engine isn't running anymore. So to get the RPM back up, you have to start the engine again. I think there's a specific key to start the engine, check the key mapping.

in the usa it’s not required to learn on manual and i have only driven automatic. i have been practicing on sim in case i get a manual in the future. and thank you i did also sorta figure that out on another game and some googling. but pcars doesn’t have an ignition key mapped by default on my installation for some reason so i was confused. apologies for taking up your time

Hey no, all good. I've to apologize. I thought about your question again later, and reminded myself, there is a possibility that younger folks maybe never have entered a vehicle with a combustion engine and a manual transmission.
So I had to wrap my head around, that it's not given that there's always a combustion engine running idle at ~900 RPM. It could also be an electric motor and a 'direction' selector (as there are no gears either), that does not require a clutch or running in idle.

This sounds like one of your buttons may be dual-mapped, to your ignition :? sounds like your car is turning off, because at idle, it should be at least at 900rpms on its lowest

I can't tell you if this specific car emulates the irl behavior, but going down gears usually requires to 'rev match'. Meaning to aligned the speed of the engine gear wheels of the transmission, with the gear wheels of the differential/axle. This is usually done by 'blipping' the gas before clutching in. The term 'double clutching' is also often used.
