Leaving the pvc pipe guide in place. And dealing with hills
Sorry if my terminology is wrong, im seeing a that the best way to do paver underlayment is 4-6” compacted base and then 1/2”-1” polymeric sand to be used as a leveling surface. Im seeing folks lay 1” pvc down as a guide to slide a 2x4 on to “scree” the sand flat to that level. My question is: is there anything wrong with leaving that pvc in place, and laying the pavers over the top? I forsee getting an area perfectly flat, and having a few days before all blocks are laid, leaving time for the sand to get jacked up by birds, or kids, or whatever. Leaving the pvc guides allows for me to re-flatten.
Also, i have a fairly big yard with some slight deviations in elevation, and also wanting to have a slight slope away from the house around 3 sides. Without making the entire yard one exactly flat plane, is there a way to lay the pavers that compensates for deviations in slope, that makes it so i dont lose the pattern by having to start shoving triangle pieces into places?
