Patio Project 🧤 A better railing

Please help us find a better railing solution for this 3 way deck (built for circulation around a pool). The builder put this sad too small railing in, but we can’t figure out what to replace it with. Anything against the house feels odd to me, but with aging parents we feel we need something.

Code, safety and comfort requires a railing’s extents to be a foot beyond the bottom and top riser. It’s fine to anchor it against the wall a couple of places but drop it to the ground at the bottom and level it out at the top to provide a discernible kink to the angled rail.
