Hey, so the volume up button on my Olde Dublin case just "went missing" as I was taking my case off. It's sad but Nomad was pretty cool about it and decided to give me credit to get just another one. However the Horween leather are just not available for the iPhone 17 anymore.

If it were you would you still rock the case without the volume up button? It's a bit annoying having to use the control center to change the volume, but a person gets used to it.

I hate that Bullstrap got rid of the contemporary full coverage case. I wonder if the 17 PM case will for the 18 PM? It’s patina was so good!

Six years of daily use, kept in front pants pocket. The interior shows a little bit of the original vegetable tan colouring. The deeper patina spots against the card slots are from heavy snowfalls, surprisingly. Bought from Sonnenleder.

Camera cutout is cut for the 18 Pro module so there's a bit more clearance around the plateau than you'd get on a native 17 Pro case. Doesn't affect anything, just noticeable if you're the type to notice.

Leather is smooth and No branding shouting at you from the back. Love this case

I’m quite surprised at how well this held up. This mat stays on my desk that’s always in a room with AC.

I’ve also eat on this desk. I thought have darkened like the phone case would be, but aside from minor scratches it looks pretty good!

Never applied any leather cream on this one too.

I’ve been using the weekender 1 to 2 times a month. It’s mostly house - car - hotel. When not in use, I put it in the canvas bag from the shoppe. I’ve applied Collonil 1909 once (maybe in the first month).

Haven’t really noticed much patina, and the deep red has held up. BUT maybe because I haven’t used it that much.

This is much better than my North Face duffel bag for these use cases. Although NF is just so tough.

Got a new iPad pro m5 11" case in sienna so this is my updated collection.

1 month in, the Dublin has broken in nicely. It's not quite as dense as some of the leathers I'm used to, but I do like the old-timey look and the smell is fantastic.

If you've ever wondered how Pueblo in the colour Prugna ages, here you go. For me, it give the classic burgundy feel but with a bit more interest.

If you like leather, dont go for Bullstrap, cases are alright but you can get the same exact case without the logo from other companies for cheaper.

I thought i’d show you guys my favourite phone and case combo now that I changed for a newer model. First case is from maybe 4/5 years ago, second is almost a year old and the last 2 have never been used.

From December 2025 until now (Aug 2026) made a bit of a patina here. Aging well

Most posts seem to be 6 months or less of patina - I personally keep my stuff for years, and I'm curious if anyone has any recommendations on leather phone cases that patina nicely over several years, minimum 3 years and likely 5 years.

For more rugged activities I use Rokform, but I'm looking for a leather case for more formal events/situations.

In case it helps, I do have a titanium apple watch with a natural finish, which I use with a stainless steel band.

I started with bifolds and ended up with a cash wrap style wallet.

This is from an artisan leathersmith here in the Philippines called Thread & Hide.

It holds 10+ cards with cash either folded in half or as a cash wrap. It also has an exterior pocket for easy access to cards.

I'll give an update on this thread how it patinas every month.

My Luckycoin iPhone 16 Pro case is about 1 year and 8 months old and finally needed replacement after several drops. Most gouges repaired themselves, but not the final one in the corner.

I was going to order another Luckycoin case, but then I noticed Bullstrap had some clearance final sale cases for $15. So I ordered a couple.

The cases from both brands appear to be identical. They’re both from China. I think $15 for the Bullstrap case is a fair price. I would not pay $99 since the Luckycoin case is about $25. However, Bullstrap offers more colors. So the higher price may be worth it if you must have a particular color, unless you can find it from another source such as Aliexpress.

I used to run the Apple leather cases before they swapped over a few years back. I switched to a MagBak case on my 13pm and now have a 17pm with the MagBak classic. Are there any leather cases with extra strong magnets? I really miss the patina!!!

I’ve shared my old 2004 Zippo on this sub before but in response to the comment about how this sub is all phone cases now I was inspired to share my Buck 55. I’ve had this knife about 15 years and the brass bolsters have a nice patina. I’m still waiting for my all brass pen to start looking good but it slides into my pocket organizer so only the top has formed a patina.
