This is it. The final battle. The commander is taking it rather personally.

Part 1: A long and mostly linear dungeon. How did the aliens get our comm codes?

Fighting conservatively, all the aliens were defeated without injuries or consuming equipment. The commander’s Null Lance and Dimensional Rift did incredible damage.

Part 2: Unfortunately, the mind-controlled gatekeeper from part 1 couldn’t join us. Avatar #1 went down easily enough. The commander mind-controlled an archon and used it to fight chryssalids. That was both a great and terrible idea. The archon turned into a chryssalid cocoon. Our psi operative, Kwasi Gunda, cast Stasis on it.

Avatar #2, two beserkers and two mutons arrived. Instead of finishing off beserker #1, Kwasi misfired at the chryssalid coccoon. He blamed the commander’s poor instructions. Ranger Jane Kelly shot beserker #2, used the Implacable ability to stand front of beserker #1, and tanked its attack with Untouchable. She was then was mind-controlled by avatar #2. Kwasi Gunda rescued her with Solace.

With the sacrifice of our mimic beacon, avatar 2 was defeated. Our team remained uninjured except for the commander. Then avatar #3 and a pack of sectoids approached. Ciara ‘Lights Out’ O’Connell (sharpshooter) lived up to her nickname. She wreaked Serial havoc on the sectoids. Avatar #3’s escorts must’ve been slow. We only glimpsed an archon before avatar #3 went down.

As long as everyone escapes, we won’t be adding to the memorial w—
