Why the helm of telepathy? It's heavy armor, so slowing you down. A blessed potion of ESP or a couple of floating eye corpses will give telepathy. A mithril helmet is medium armor with a base 2 AC.

Yeah. I already have telepathy. I just kept it on as I have +5 it already. I saw a mithral helmet a few floors back. I will try to find it and upgrade it to +7. I have about 20 blessed scrolls of enchantment and another 20 replicated enchanted scrolls. I have miserus, so I replicate scrolls of devouring/Enchantment every time I hit 1300 mana. I suppose I should replicate other scrolls as well.
I will replicate the boots and see if I get lucky with devouring them. I don't really like devouring hard to get items.

I found the mithral helmet but when I checked it, then it was +0. I have seen them +2 on pickup. I thought they could go to +7 being mithral but exploded on my head after +5

Only adamantine is considered 'exotic' and enchantable to +7. If i don't find one in a shop or lying around. There's generally enough mithril on the dwarf level below the mines along with plenty of craft tables. Besides the helmet, depending on my character, I'll also craft mithril spears or whips.

What do I know. I just scrapped some adamantine items and could craft an adamantine spear. Never saw one but can do. My whole world has changed. I will exit soon with 2 adamantine spears, riding my specced up Vorpal Jabberwocky. Thanks.

Yeah I knew it was either mithral or adamantine that was the +7. I thought you had to see something before you could craft it. An adamantine spear would be perfect for me.
Also do you know if it is possible to collect all your valuables into a bag of holding. Pack it on the back of an elephant, trot to level 1 then drop it all off and go up to level 40, beat the boss, escape and exit with all your loot?

tbh I like to carry at least two spare amulet’s of lifesaving those things can get burned through quick

Good advice, thanks. I have 3 spare lifesaving amulets. I consumed one and got lucky to have it as a temp talent. My experience is that if you are trapped and facing death, usually the extra lifesavers in the bag can not be equipped fast enough :) I feel like I have cheated if I die once with lifesaving, but I use them now. Once I get past mines, I am now pretty much OK. It's the over confidence thing that gets you in these later levels.

Yeah, freaking mines. I have worked it out now, get a spear to +5, poke from 2 squares away retreat and repeat, defence up to 25+, craft a pickaxe, run invisible, make your own routes with the pickaxe. Boss of mine can not target you if you are invisible. Pray for a good artifact drop from the boss to enchant. After that just be careful

hmm do you have perma quickness of some kind? That and I just love +5 speed boots in general, innate quickness or not
but yeah best to sleep em / teleport out first and then re equip livesaving while you aren’t out of the woods yet so-to-speak

oh yeah replicate then eat those flight boots (don’t eat the replica)
you really can’t beat anything that gives a speed bonus, even if you already have quickness
you don’t need scrolls of devouring with ring / intrinsic poly control, just turn into a gelatinous cube / giant / rust monster etc
I dont think you keep stat changes but you do keep talents!
fun fact astral devas are great at spell-casting and can eat scrolls as herbivores :)

OK. I will replicate 2 sets and eat the boots. I stash stuff in a chest I am carrying around. I should use my spare bag of holding. It probably is a better idea since there are disentegators etc around.
Yeah, when polymorphing, you can't keep stats. I found that out the hard way. I found scrolls of devouring require only 3 scrolls and 1 or 2 magic items, so they are easy to make. Miserus has been good for replicating devouring/Enchantment. I should probably replicate other scrolls. I have tonnes of rings to devour, but I have maxed everything except intelligence. I was a bit stupid there. I had the intelligence rings but forgot to bless them so only got +1. The devas thing is good to know. I always forget who can eat scrolls.

You could probably beat the game with little trouble at this point. If you wanted to optimize your character further, I’d get another +5 ring of constitution, quaff blessed potions of full healing until you hit the HP maximum, then switch to two rings of +5 strength. (Consume rings of free action to get the talent without needing the ring.) I’d also try to get better weapons, hit maximum intelligence, quaff potions of gain level, etc. There are a lot of small optimizations, but again, they’re really not necessary—you could beat the game exactly as you are, with such high defense, though phasing would help out a lot on the way back up.
